Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 July 2026. This explains what data Forno collects, why, and what rights you have over it.

Data we collect

Account data. If you sign in with a supported identity provider (currently Google; Apple sign-in is planned), we receive a signed identity token and verify it on our servers to create an account. We store a device or account identifier - not your password, and not your full provider profile.

Recipe data. Recipes you save (title, ingredients, steps, notes, photos) are stored on our servers so they sync across your devices and, if you join a household, with other household members.

Recipe import processing. When you import a recipe from a URL, photo, or video, the extracted text or image is sent to a third-party AI provider to parse it into structured recipe data. A copy of these requests and responses may be retained briefly to improve the accuracy of that extraction process - never shared or sold.

Purchase data. If you buy the one-time unlock or subscribe, your app store (Google Play, or Apple's App Store once supported) handles payment directly - we never see your card details. We receive a purchase or transaction token from the store, which we verify against the store's own servers to grant access.

Crash and error reports. We use a third-party crash-reporting service to catch bugs and app crashes. These reports are configured to exclude your name, IP address, request details, and recipe content - only the technical details needed to fix a bug (e.g. which feature failed) are sent.

Product usage data. We record which in-app offers and prompts are shown to you and whether you act on them, so we can tell what's working - not what you search for, view, or cook.

Cookies and analytics

This marketing website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure site traffic. The Forno app itself does not use advertising or analytics cookies - the product-usage data described above is collected directly by our own servers, not through a cookie-based tracker.

Why we process your data

We process account, recipe, and purchase data because it's necessary to provide the service you've signed up for. We process crash reports and product-usage data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. Where the law requires your consent (for example, marketing-site analytics cookies in some regions), we rely on that consent instead.

Who we share data with

Some of these providers are based outside the UK/EU (including the US); where that's the case, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international transfers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses). We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

Data retention

We keep your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your account data within a reasonable period, typically within 30 days, except where we're required to retain something for a longer period by law (for example, purchase records for tax purposes).

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Forno is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated data - see how to delete your account, or contact hello@forno.kitchen for any other request. If you're in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including access, correction, erasure, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Household sharing

If you join or create a household, recipes and (soon) meal plans and grocery lists are visible to other members of that household.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do; material changes will be highlighted in the app or by email where practical.
